Overview: Developing an Executive Communication Strategy

Communicating effectively inside & outside the organization

About the Program

Crafting a Strategy
1. Leadership, Science & the Power of Communication
To set the stage for effective communication, you must  understand the conditions under which communications are most likely to be received and comprehended. In this segment, you’ll learn what science has discovered about the power of human connection and disconnection and how you can leverage the “human moment” to win the emotional and intellectual attentions of others. What acts as the on/off switch for communication and learning, and when is face-to-face contact essential?

2.Creating & Implementing a Leadership Communication Strategy: Matching the Message to the Audience

How do you create and implement an effective communication process that allows you to routinely articulate your priorities and expectations, impart essential business and performance information and maintain a visible presence in the organization?

To succeed, you must build a bridge to your audiences and establish connection and trust.  How do you go about it? How do you create credibility within the organization, match your message to peoples’ differing styles, pinpoint stakeholder issues and know which  methods of communication are best suited in a variety of situations?

Delivering the Message

3. One-on-One: Leading With Strategic Conversation

Time and again, your ability to resolve difficult problems through skilled one-on-one discussions can be the difference between success and failure, whether these issues involve employees resisting new policies, subordinates quarreling over turf, associates seeking advice on unfamiliar problems, or how to move ahead with projects.

In this session, using a series of interactive exercises, you will learn the art of effective leadership conversation and seven principles designed to help you to become a more persuasive communicator in any one-on-one encounter.

4. Mastering the Art of Strategic Presentations

This segment focuses on making you a more proficient and confident presenter at both the individual and organizational levels.

Through exercises and video, we’ll teach you how to assess your own presentation style and the skills that will help you:

  • connect with and engage listeners throughout your talk
  • make your ideas easy to deliver and understand
  • prepare intelligently
  • deal with difficult listeners
  • establish believability
  • tie your content back to business goals
  • better understand the speaker-audience dynamic – and that you are the message
